Zelensky warns of a Russian attempt to break through the front line in Bakhmut

MADRID, 29 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky warned this Sunday that Russia would be trying to break the front line in Bakhmut and Vuhledar, in the Donetsk region.

"I have had another meeting today at the headquarters. The main topic has obviously been the situation at the front, in the Donetsk region and in the south. The situation is very complicated. In Bakhmut and Vuhledar there are constant Russian attacks, constant attempts to to break through our defenses," Zelensky explained in a video message posted on social media.

Zelensky has stressed that despite the "numerous Russian losses", the "high intensity attacks" continue, and has valued the "extraordinary resistance of the Ukrainian defenders". "Every step that we impede the enemy here is dozens of unacceptable steps by the occupiers in other directions," he pointed out.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian Defense Minister, Oleksei Reznikov, has insisted on the need for combat aircraft and long-range missiles to attack Russian logistics in the rear.

"Last year I wrote a letter to Santa Claus. Next on the list are combat aircraft and missiles similar to ATACMS with the ability to attack Russian fuel and ammunition depots and also their command posts," Reznikov said in a statement. interview with CBS.

He has also stressed that the tanks that his allies will send to Ukraine represent a "turning point" in the war. "HIMARS systems were a turning point in the summer. Tanks will be another turning point and then fighter jets will be," she argued.

Reznikov has assured that 2023 will be "the year of victory". "Our objective is to liberate all the occupied territories, but we will see how quickly this is achieved," he declared.
