MADRID, 26 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSOE has converted the Federal Committee that is being held this Saturday, April 27, into an act of support for the President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, in which the main leaders of the party will launch messages of support so that he does not present his resignation and continue in La Moncloa.

Although in principle the Committee was called to ratify the PSOE list for the European elections on May 9, Sánchez's surprise announcement that he would retire for a few days from public life to reflect on his continuity at the head of the Executive has disrupted the plans. of the party.

However, they have decided to keep the event, which will bring together the party's senior staff, to celebrate a massive event that expresses full support for their leader, both from the party leadership and from the grassroots, who will gather in a demonstration at the doors of the headquarters on Ferraz Street while the Federal Committee is held inside.

The Socialists, however, have decided to postpone the Federal Commission of Lists to next Tuesday, which was originally going to be held this Friday and which was to give the green light to the candidacy for the European elections that the Committee would ratify the next day.

But, given the latest events, they have decided to put this issue aside and focus on sending "positive energy" to Sánchez so that he stays, as requested by the first vice president, María Jesús Montero. However, it is expected that the Committee will ratify Teresa Ribera as the head of the list for the Europeans, although the rest of the members that make up the candidacy will not be known until Tuesday.

Therefore, it will be an atypical Federal Committee for several reasons, the first of all the absence of Sánchez, who will not attend as he is immersed in this period of reflection that has led him to cancel his entire public agenda.

Furthermore, the interventions of the members of the Committee will be broadcast openly, something completely unusual, since these debates are usually private, without cameras and without journalists' access to the room.

But on this occasion the leadership of the PSOE wants the numerous messages of support, which will foreseeably follow one another as the socialist leaders take the floor, to transcend beyond the walls of the Ferraz headquarters and reach both the citizens and the Sánchez himself.

To help with this task, giant screens will be installed in front of the party headquarters so that the thousands of people who will gather there can follow the speeches. This is another of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding this Federal Committee, the concentration of militants and sympathizers in front of the headquarters while the leaders intervene inside.

In order for the concentration to be massive, socialist federations throughout Spain are mobilizing their bases and making free buses available to facilitate transportation to Madrid.
