Russia criticizes Borrell's "hypocrisy" in accusing the Foreign Minister of anti-Semitism

MADRID, 21 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Russian Foreign Ministry has criticized the "hypocrisy" exhibited by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, who this week had criticized "anti-Semitic" statements made by the head of the Russian portfolio, Sergey Lavrov.

Borrell criticized Lavrov on Thursday for his recent remarks that Washington has formed a Western "coalition" to "resolve the Russian question" in a similar way to Adolf Hitler's "final solution" to exterminate the Jews.

The head of European Diplomacy noted that these words "add to Minister Lavrov's previous anti-Semitic comments", while criticizing Moscow's "manipulation of the truth" "to justify its illegal war of aggression".

In response, Russia accuses Borrell of leading an exercise in "hypocrisy" after reminding him that some statements in which he divided the world into a "flower garden" inhabited by "one billion citizens of the EU and the United States" and the " jungle" that advances on her, in reference to the rivals of the block.

Borrell made these statements last year and they were responded to with criticism from countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which even went so far as to summon the interim head of the EU mission in the country, Emil Paulsen.

The Foreign Ministry recalled Russia's call in relation to Europe to fight "against anti-Semitism, Russophobia and other manifestations of discriminatory policies against certain nationalities and ethnic groups," according to the statement collected by the TASS agency.
