PSOE militants are preparing a large demonstration to support the President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, after he announced a few days of retirement to reflect on his continuity in La Moncloa.

The rally will take place on Saturday at 11 in the morning next to the party's national headquarters at 70 Ferraz Street in Madrid and the call is already circulating among the militants, according to what socialist sources have indicated to Europa Press.

The call is not official and the PSOE leadership assures that they are not organizing it or giving any instructions in this regard, although members of the Federal Executive are echoing it and spreading it on social networks.

However, there are several socialist federations that are organizing buses to transport socialist sympathizers to Madrid who want to participate in the demonstration, as Europa Press has learned.

For example, the Asturian Socialist Federation provides free transportation to leave Gijón early Saturday morning and arrive in Madrid in time to express its support for the PSOE leader.

Socialist Youth is also promoting the event and calling for mobilization from its social networks. In a message on their X (former Twitter) and Tik Tok accounts, they ask to go to Ferraz on Saturday to support Sánchez: "Pedro, it is worth it," they say.

In this way they echo the call made by leading socialist leaders, such as the former president of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who this Thursday asked PSOE supporters to "mobilize" in favor of Sánchez, after he has He has parked his public agenda until next Monday, when he will announce whether he is still president.

Along the same lines, the first vice president of the Government and deputy general secretary of the PSOE, María Jesús Montero, said that the Government was focused on convincing Sánchez not to resign and encouraged sending "positive energy" to a head of the Executive who has " open his heart" with the letter he addressed to the citizens.

The concentration that they are preparing in the PSOE has the same objective, to convey their support to Sánchez and try to convince him that it is worth continuing in the Government despite the "harassment campaign" that in his opinion is being carried out against him. woman, Begoña Gómez.

Sánchez announced his temporary retirement after learning that a Madrid court has opened investigation proceedings against Gómez for alleged crimes of influence peddling and corruption in business, due to his relationships with companies that have received public awards.

The demonstration of support for Sánchez will also coincide with the celebration of the Federal Committee that takes place this Saturday in Ferraz in which the list for the European elections on July 9 will be approved, which is expected to be headed by the third vice president, Teresa Ribera. .
