Russia claims NATO expansion and Ukraine's 'hybrid warfare' threaten its 'military security'

MADRID, 24 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valeri Gerasimov, stated on Tuesday that NATO's attempts to "expand" and the "hybrid war" carried out by Ukraine "pose a serious threat to the military security of Russia".

Gerasimov has thus justified the development and strengthening of the Armed Forces for "practical purposes" to guarantee state defense. "The plan has been approved by President Vladimir Putin and can be adjusted when there are new threats to Russia's military security," he said.

"Today, these threats become aspirations for the Atlantic Alliance, which seeks to expand through Finland and Sweden, and also for Ukraine as a tool for a hybrid war against the country," he was quoted as saying by the TASS news agency. .

Likewise, he has stressed that in order to neutralize these threats, he has requested that the "approved parameters" be adjusted for the upcoming meetings of senior officials of the Armed Forces.
