Russia announces a two-way offensive in eastern Ukraine

Russia has announced this Sunday the start of a two-way offensive in eastern Ukraine and has assured that it has managed to seize "more advantageous lines and positions" within the framework of the invasion of the country, unleashed on February 24 by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, has stated that these offensives have been launched in the direction of Krasno-Limansk and has stressed that "the enemy, using three assault groups reinforced by armored vehicles, has made counterattack attempts that did not have been successful in the direction of the settlements of Zhitlovka, Ploschanka and Kolomichija, in the Luhansk People's Republic".

Thus, he has indicated that 65 Ukrainian soldiers have died in the fighting in this direction, while two armored vehicles and two trucks have been destroyed, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.

"In addition, three Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups and three mortar patrols of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed in the areas of the village of Chernovaya Dibrova, as well as in the Serebryansky forest, in the Lugansk People's Republic," he said. added.

Konashenkov has also pointed out that another 40 Ukrainian soldiers have died in clashes in the direction of Donetsk, while in Kupiansk "artillery fire has caused the defeat of the accumulation of personnel and military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in areas of the settlements of Sinkovka, Tabaevka and Krajmalnoye, in the Kharkov region", where more than 30 Ukrainian soldiers were reportedly killed.
