Murdoch Admits Fox News Commentators Endorsed False Claims Against Biden's Victory

MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has admitted that some guest commentators on the Fox News television network backed false claims that the 2020 election, won by Joe Biden, was stolen from former President Donald Trump.

"Some of our commentators backed him," Murdoch testified under oath in a defamation lawsuit, when asked if some of the presenters defended the thesis that the electoral victory did not belong to Biden.

However, the businessman has denied that the company endorsed Trump's electoral lies as an entity. The release of Murdoch's statement has also revealed that he referred to some of Trumo's election lies as "nonsense."

Fox News, for its part, has attacked the complainant company, voting machine maker Dominion, calling the claim "dubious." "The Dominion lawsuit has always been more focused on what will generate headlines than what can withstand legal and factual scrutiny," reads a statement collected by CNN.

Thus, the media company has defended the actions of its executives and guests during the 2020 elections, alleging that the live statements about electoral fraud have been taken out of context.

Still, Dominion -- which brought the $1.6 billion lawsuit -- is trying to prove that those who run Fox knew that Trump's statements were false but broadcast them anyway, seeking profit.
