Bolsonaro's party exempts him from guilt in the coup attacks and promises him a "minister's" salary

MADRID, 20 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The head of the Liberal Party (PL), Valdemar Costa Neto, has promised Jair Bolsonaro and his wife, Michelle, "minister's" salaries once they return from the United States and has exonerated him of the coup acts of January 8, recalling that it has been "silent since the defeat in the elections".

Costa Neto has not only exempted Bolsonaro from those violent acts, but also the followers of the former president who he has said did not participate in the violent acts that took place inside the offices of the Presidency, Congress and the Supreme Court.

"The Bolsonarista really doesn't like that. He was there asking that nothing be broken. There were extremists infiltrated," he said in an interview for CBN, in which he also blamed the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, for what happened for to be in charge of security in the Esplanade of the Ministries.

Costa Neto has also claimed to feel "surprised" after the discovery at the home of former Justice Minister Anderson Torres of a draft of a decree to reverse the election results despite revealing that various proposals circulated among Bolsonaris after the triumph of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

With respect to Bolsonaro, Costa Neto has confirmed that upon his return from the United States he will receive a "minister's" salary, the same fate will befall his wife, whom the party will commission "touring Brazil" to "attract women to politics."

The PL had conditioned an eventual payment to Bolsonaro on his return from the United States, where it is expected to continue until the end of January. The former president traveled to Florida on December 30, thus avoiding participating in the inauguration of President Lula da Silva.

The PL leader has also promised a responsible opposition in the next legislature and that he does not rule out voting in favor of the Lula government's proposals if they consider that they are of national interest. "We will not form a radical opposition. We are a right-wing party, but we don't want Brazil to go backwards," he said.
