At least three dead and 20 missing in a landslide in Colombia

MADRID, 5 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has confirmed this Sunday that there are currently three people dead and 20 missing after a landslide in Pueblo Rico, Risaralda.

Petro has declared that "from very early on" the Colombian authorities have "made all possible efforts to rescue the buried people alive", while it has reported that nine rescued people are safe.

"It is estimated that more than 20 people remain to be found. It is a tragedy," he indicated through his profile on the social network Twitter.

The National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) of the Latin American country has indicated that the first movement of earth was registered at kilometer 13 of the La Cabaña sector, in Pueblo Rico.

"Apparently there have been two additional movements of mass (land) and it continues to rain, which makes rescue work difficult," said the agency, which added that the emergency left thirty bus passengers and a motorcycle trapped. .

In addition, 70 Colombian Fire Department units support the rescue efforts in which municipal and regional teams are involved, as well as the Police and the Red Cross.
