The French authorities have announced in the early hours of this Thursday that a minor has died after being run over by a driver who has taken to flight in the city of Montpelier after the semifinal of the World Cup between France and Morocco. .

The 14-year-old boy was rushed to a nearby hospital after being hit by a car, and died shortly after being treated, according to a statement from the French Hérault prefecture.

The events reportedly took place when a group of people, presumably followers of the Morocco soccer team, were walking down the street and snatched the French flag that was hanging from the window of a vehicle.

After that, the car has started a flight and has run over several people, including the minor, according to a video broadcast on social networks.

According to the Hérault prefecture, the vehicle was found near the scene of the accident and turned over to the police. In this sense, the French Police have launched an investigation into what happened.

The president of the French Council of the Muslim Faith, Mohammed Moussaoui, has condemned the death of the minor on social networks, urging that "everything possible be done to arrest the perpetrator of this heinous crime."

"A motorist ran over Moroccan followers in Montpellier, leaving a child between life and death. Our prayers for him and our support for his loved ones," added Moussaoui.
