BILBAO, 15 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, has highlighted, after completing ten years as president, that the Basque Country has a society with a "more established" coexistence and institutional stability that is "a hallmark". In addition, he has assured that he maintains "with the same enthusiasm his commitment of the first day" to work for "a Euskadi of progress, in peace and freedom, by itself in Europe and the rest of the world" and believes that the Basque Country, despite to the crisis or the pandemic, it will continue "advancing together".

On social networks, Urkullu recalled that, ten years ago, on December 15, 2022, he was sworn in as Lehendakari of the Basque Country for the first time before the Gernika tree.

"Today marks ten years and it is an opportune moment to thank all the work that we have developed at the service of the Basque Country. I show my gratitude and appreciation to the Basques, the institutions, political formations, public and private sector workers, business and associative fabric , third social sector, educational and cultural world", he added.

Urkullu stressed that, ten years later, the Basque Country is a "more inclusive, supportive and innovative" society, as well as a "better educated society, with a more established coexistence, in which agreements between different people and institutional stability are a sign of identity".

The Lehendakari pointed out that Basque society has "more consolidated" public services, which are advancing with "a shared strategy and a model of collaboration between public and private initiative".

"I believe in a model of political and institutional action at the service of all people, that leaves no one behind. A model that aims to progressively and positively influence the quality of life and well-being of each person," he pointed out.

In this sense, he assured that today the Basque Country has 100,000 people working and contributing to Social Security more than ten years ago and thanks to the shared model of Sustainable Human Development, today it is "one of the countries in Europe with the least social inequality".

"I am convinced that, despite the financial and economic crisis, the pandemic or the international crisis, in the Basque Country we will continue to make progress together," he added.

Lastly, Urkullu stressed that today he maintains "with the same enthusiasm his commitment from the first day: "I will work with humility and determination for a Euskadi of progress, in peace and freedom, by itself in Europe and the rest of the world".
