The PSOE tells the AJFV that the CGPJ's delay in appointing the Constitutional magistrates is an "anomaly"

The PSOE has transferred to the Francisco de Vitoria Judicial Association (AJFV) that the delay of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to appoint the two magistrates that correspond to it for the Constitutional Court supposes "an institutional anomaly".

This has been reported by the association after a delegation met with the Secretary of Justice, Institutional Relations and Public Function of the Federal Executive Commission (CEF) of the PSOE, Llanos Castellanos, at the party's headquarters in Ferraz. As specified, the meeting was attended by the spokesman for the AJFV, Jorge Fernández Vaquero, and the member of the national committee of the association, Sergio Oliva.

In statements collected by Europa Press, Oliva has assured that from the AJFV they are "in agreement with the PSOE that the delay or delay on the part of the Council", in his opinion for "reasons not entirely clear", supposes "an anomaly institution that must be corrected as soon as possible".

The meeting took place within the framework of a series of contacts that Castellanos has been maintaining with the judicial associations after the negotiations between the PSOE and the PP were suspended on October 27 to renew the members of the CGPJ, who remain in office since December 2018.

The AJFV delegation has transferred to the PSOE its "concern" about the "serious institutional situation that the country is experiencing." As indicated by Oliva, the association agrees with the Socialists that "the attitude of the PP in breaking off the negotiations to renew the Council definitively is highly irresponsible."

From the Francisco de Vitoria they have insisted that they did not like "the way these negotiations were being carried out." "We have always defended that, as established by the Constitution, it is in the Congress of Deputies and in the Senate where this procedure has to be carried out and with the greatest possible transparency," said Oliva, who has assured that this has been the case. communicated to the leader of the PSOE.

For his part, Castellanos has transferred to the representatives of the AJFV his "concern" about the attitude that the PP is adopting in recent days. In his opinion, far from rectifying and returning to negotiations, the PP is making "very serious and inappropriate accusations for a democratic country like Spain" against the President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez.

"The only party that does not respect the Constitution is the PP, which has held the CGPJ hostage for four years," he warned, while assuring that "the damage that the PP is causing to justice in Spain is unprecedented." in Spanish democracy.

For Castellanos, "every day that passes it is less understandable that Mr. Feijóo talks about pacts, when the only thing he has done since he became president of the PP is to say 'no' to any government proposal."

Within the framework of the meeting, Oliva reminded the PSOE of the association's position on the "need" that --"besides renewing the Council and overcoming this sad stage"-- "a review of the election of judicial members.
