The Moroccan arrested for murdering the sacristan of Algeciras will pass this Monday at the disposal of the National Court

MADRID, 26 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Moroccan detained for the deadly attack in Algeciras (Cádiz) that has left a sacristan murdered and several injured, including a priest, will go to court next Monday at the National Court within the investigation opened for crimes of terrorism, they have informed Europa Press legal sources.

The perpetrator of the criminal action will be questioned on the 30th by the reinforcement magistrate of the Central Court of Instruction number 6, Joaquín Gadea, after the National Police investigators have requested an extension of the legal term of detention.

The Ministry of the Interior has confirmed this Thursday that the detainee had an expulsion file open for irregular status since June 2022, although there is no criminal record or for terrorist crimes, neither in Spain nor other allied countries. The head of the portfolio, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has moved to Algeciras.

According to Interior sources, the man arrested for murdering a sacristan with a machete and injuring several, including a priest, was not previously under surveillance by agents of the Information Services or other police groups, "nor in the last days nor before".

The expulsion file was opened last June. The aforementioned sources specify that since it is an administrative procedure, it has "all the guarantees" and, therefore, "its execution is not immediate."

Sources from the fight against terrorism announced this Thursday that the detainee is a 25-year-old Moroccan with an expulsion file open for living in an irregular situation in Spain.

He lived in Algeciras in what is known as a 'patera floor', since he lived with many other citizens in the same house, according to other police sources. These sources indicate that the sheath of the machete that she used in the criminal action has been found in the house.

The house was searched last morning, hours after the attack that the National Court is investigating for possible crimes of terrorism. The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has ruled out that there are other people involved in these events and has confirmed that the house was being searched.

This Thursday it is expected that all the effects seized after the search will begin to be analyzed, as indicated by the Interior, which has added that the rest of the investigations will also continue and the interrogations of the detainee, who has no prior history, will continue. neither in Spain nor other allied countries.
