He faces ten years in prison accused of manufacturing counterfeit banknotes in a rental apartment in Granada

GRANADA, 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Prosecutor's Office has requested ten years in prison and a fine of 300 euros for a 36-year-old man accused of the alleged commission of a crime of counterfeiting currency, after being discovered in a flat where he lived for rent in Granada, the material capital for manufacture of counterfeit bills.

As stated in the provisional conclusions brief of the Prosecutor's Office, to which Europa Press has had access, he would have made use of "a printer and sheets of boneless paper." The counterfeit bills manufactured would have been corresponding to the class ESA0005 and K 00042, it details.

On the date of entry and registration in the property, on October 16, 2019, "five pieces of paper with the image printed on both sides of the five-euro Europa series note" were found, along with, among other material, "53 clippings of bone-colored paper, on one of whose edges" were "pieces of printed images of five-euro bills" from the aforementioned series and "112 sheets of white DIN A 4-size multifunction paper".

Likewise, counterfeit banknotes were seized, which would have been reproduced using the "ink jet technology" method, and presented to the touch "a roughness very different from the relief that the chalcographic ink ridges provide" to the legitimate ones.

Likewise, the prosecutor specifies that the color tones were "well reproduced" and that the paper, being different from that of the legitimate bill, was "well simulated." In addition, "the portrait hologram has been imitated by hand-applying silver metallic ink and the shiny number in the lower left corner of the obverse has been imitated by inkjet printing."

In short, it would have been a "dangerous forgery" since "at first glance" it could "be confused with a legitimate one and only with a careful examination and having auxiliary means such as those that exist in the Bank of Spain" could "appreciate the differences". These facts are expected to be prosecuted by the First Section of the Provincial Court of Granada on January 31.
