Trump claims that Ukraine should have agreed with Putin by ceding Crimea and withdrawing from NATO

MADRID, 1 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that Ukraine should have reached an agreement with Russia before the invasion by "handing over" Crimea and pledging not to join NATO.

"They could have handed over Crimea. They could have done something with NATO. 'Okay, we didn't go into NATO' and they would have a country, because I think Putin wanted to make a deal," Trump said in an interview on the talk show. The Clay Travis

The invasion "would never have happened" if he was still president of the United States, he said. "(Putin) would not have done it if I were there," she has assured her. "He would not have done it. At the very least, they would have reached an agreement," she argued.

However, Trump believes that "now (Putin) does not want to reach an agreement". "I think an agreement is much more difficult. He is destroying everything. He is going to conquer it all and it is very, very sad to see what has happened in Ukraine. Very, very sad," he asserted. "He prefers to have the whole country now that it has started," he added.

For Trump, Putin's decision to send hundreds of thousands of soldiers and military equipment to the border was "a great negotiating tactic." "He sent 200,000 military to the border to negotiate and an agreement could have been easily reached and now I'm not sure an agreement can be reached very easily," he argued.
