The governments of the United States and Canada have announced this Sunday the delivery to the Haitian authorities of tactical and armored vehicles, as well as security supplies to help the security forces in their fight against the mafias that have practically controlled the capital for months. Prince Port.

The succession of crises in which Haiti lives has led the UN to detect for the first time in this country people in the worst level of food insecurity, classified as "catastrophic", particularly in the Cité Soleil neighborhood, just the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, under the total control of criminal armed groups.

In this way, the United States and Canada have confirmed the arrival this Sunday at the airport of the capital of military planes with this equipment for the security forces "against the criminal actors that are fomenting violence and interrupting the flow of humanitarian assistance that is needed urgently, hampering efforts to stop the spread of cholera," according to a US State Department note.

"The United States and Canada remain committed to supporting the work of the Haitian National Police to protect and serve the Haitian people. In coordination with international partners, our governments are working with Haitian partners to strengthen Haiti's capacity to train more officers police and improve law enforcement operations," the statement concludes.
