The United Kingdom denies entry into the country to a former Afghan magistrate persecuted by the Taliban

LONDON, 20 Aug. (DPA/EP) -

The lawyers of a former Afghan magistrate have denounced that the British authorities have refused their client's entry into the country despite the risk to her life under the new Taliban regime.

The Kingsley Napley law firm announced this Saturday that they have already filed the first appeal with the Immigration Court to allow the entry of the former judge, identified only as "Y", and her son into the country.

The former judge is in a "seriously vulnerable" situation after the Taliban murdered several of her colleagues in the purge organized by the fundamentalist movement, as reported by numerous NGOs.

"Y" is now in hiding in Pakistan with her son after her home in the Afghan capital, Kabul, was attacked by the Taliban, after twenty years in the Afghan Judiciary, where she dealt with crimes of violence against women and came to preside over cases against the Taliban, now released.

The lawyers understand that the petition was not processed due to an administrative error that they hope to correct with this appeal.
