Spain will receive at the end of June the works of art that one of the alleged leaders of 'Púnica' hid in Switzerland

The collection, valued at more than 15 million euros, is made up of paintings, photographs, sculptures and pens

MADRID, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Between June 29 and 30, Spain will receive the works of art and the collection of fountain pens that one of the alleged leaders of the Punic plot, David Marjaliza, hid in a warehouse located in the Swiss city of Geneva, according to 'El Country' and have confirmed legal sources to Europa Press.

According to the aforementioned newspaper, in the collection --valued at more than 15 million euros-- there are about 40 paintings, photographs and sculptures and 200 collectible fountain pens. Among the authors that Marjaliza collected are Eduardo Chillida, Miquel Barceló, Antoni Tàpies, Manolo Valdés, Juan Uslé, Torres García or the Crónica Team.

The decision of the Swiss authorities to undertake the transfer would have been accompanied, explains 'El País', by the request by them to the National High Court for a lawyer from the Central Court of Instruction number 6, in charge of the investigation of Púnica , travel to Geneva on those days to be present at the event.

What this requirement pursues is that the objects and works delivered together with Swiss customs officials and a representative of the company Natural Le Coultre S.A., owner of the warehouse where the works have been deposited since 2013, when they would have been hidden there Marsh.

It was at the beginning of June 2021 when the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 6, Manuel García Castellón, required Marjaliza to express her agreement for the transfer of her collection and to give her consent so that the expenses accumulated by the deposit of the same, the civil insurance and the movement of repatriation of the works to Spain was paid with the funds that were seized in Switzerland.

According to the magistrate, these seized objects were indirectly obtained with the profit from the corruption deals carried out by Marjaliza and were deposited under her orders in a bonded warehouse located in Geneva (Switzerland), belonging to the company Fine Arta Transports Nature le Coultre, and used a company --Millenia Trading PTE-- located in Singapore.

"The investigated David Marjaliza used the prior signing of a trust and a trust agreement, in order to cover himself as the effective beneficiary of the works and collection pens, putting two people, one of Thai nationality, in charge of the company. (...) and another of Singaporean nationality", explained the magistrate in a car dated that same month.

That screen was what initially prevented the Swiss authorities from authorizing the repatriation of the works of art, since they hid him as the real owner of the deposited objects. It was thanks to the cooperation with Singapore that the company Millenia Trading was created 'ad hoc' by Marjaliza.
