Spain redoubles military aid to Ukraine with an anti-missile battery, armored vehicles, more ammunition and trainers

Spain will redouble military aid to Ukraine coinciding with the sixth month of war in the country and on the occasion of Independence Day and has prepared military material to be made available to the Ukrainian authorities immediately, which includes an anti-missile battery, armored vehicles, more ammunition, basic training for Ukrainian forces in Spain as well as clothing and winter equipment.

This has been reported by the Ministry of Defense in a statement collected by Europa Press after this Wednesday the Ukrainian ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, lamented that the last shipment of military weapons from Spain to Ukraine was in May and they could not get everything they had requested.

"I cannot say that we are satisfied, nor that we are receiving everything that Spain could supply", pointed out the ambassador, who, however, thanked the Spanish help.

Defense has claimed that Spain "has always acted and will continue to do so in coordination with the countries of the Atlantic Alliance, the EU and with the Group of Donors", made up of 45 countries.

The shipment of this material is part of the "firm commitment" that has been developing since the beginning of this war by Spain, which "has not stopped sending material for the legitimate defense of the Ukrainian people" that for security and other reasons that affect other countries the details have not been specified, collects the document.

During the month of August, the Ministry of Defense and the Spanish Armed Forces have prepared the following material to be made available to the Ukrainian authorities, who will determine the time of delivery:

Field artillery of which the Ukrainian authorities were already informed on August 17 that it was at their disposal in a Spanish Base and ready for delivery with a total of more than 1,000 complete shots of long-range ammunition, prepared in 75 pallets of a cubic meter.

Due to the weight and characteristics of heavy caliber, the offer of an allied country has been accepted to carry out, in coordination with the IDCC, the air transport to the destination indicated by the Ukrainian authorities. Said transport is expected to take place at the beginning of September, for which the national overflight authorization has also been coordinated.

Likewise, the acquisition and delivery to Ukraine of 1,000 tons of diesel for an approximate amount of 2.5 million euros has been authorized.

A set of TOA APC M-113 vehicles will also be delivered to the country in good working order, pending operational readiness after the industrial set-up that has already been made available to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

On the other hand, a complete point anti-aircraft defense battery and its missiles have been prepared, a battery that was fully operational. In addition, Ukraine has been offered to conduct training in the operation and maintenance of the battery.

In addition, the preparation of Spanish trainers and different priority training modules for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is being coordinated with an allied country. This task is likely to be included in the possible future mission of the European Union, if approved, indicates Defense.

Finally, in addition to the aforementioned weapons, combat material and training, in response to an urgent request from the Advisor to the President Volodimir Zelenski before the coming winter, an important load of uniforms and complementary equipment for cold climates has been prepared.

The shipment is made up of some 30,000 cold weather campaign uniforms, 15,600 jackets, 15,000 outdoor suits and several thousand additional garments and coats.

This shipment of more than 1,600 pallets represents an important challenge for its transport and distribution before winter, which Spain will have ready to send in September.
