Sánchez scours Junts that even Artur Mas sees the independence movement as worse than in 2017

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has blamed this Wednesday the spokesperson for Junts in Congress, Miriam Nogueras, who even the former president of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, considers that the independence movement is now "worse" than in 2017 and He has invited the old Convergència to "reflect" on it and to stop being "anti-political".

This is how Sánchez responded in the control session to the Government in Congress before the list of "abuses of power" that Nogueras has reproached him with and the insistence of the Junts spokesperson that the president clarify if ERC knew of the "intention" of the Executive to "extradite" former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont.

"Agreeing with you is absolutely useless," Nogueras has reiterated. "I detect a certain tension between you and ERC, allow me the sarcasm," Sánchez replied, which has encouraged the Junts spokesperson to recommend to the chief executive that he "worry" more about "the tension that exists within his Government "Coalition.

Nogueras started by accusing the Government of legislating "ad hominen" for reforming the Penal Code with the "ultimate objective of facilitating the extradition of Puigdemont." At this point, he has referred to the president of the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court, Manuel Marchena, as "the 120th deputy of the PSOE" (in reality the PSOE already has 120 seats) and to that court as the "third chamber" of the Spanish Courts .

In addition, he has read a string of "violations of Human Rights" and "abuses of power" that he blames on the State and that go from the judicialization of the Catalan conflict, to the 'Pegasus case' and the 'State sewers', passing through the Tax "plunder" that, in his opinion, Catalonia suffers, and by the statements of the high representative of Foreign Affairs of the European Union, the socialist Josep Borrell.

The spokeswoman for Puigdemont's party has also mentioned article 155 of the Constitution, the refusal for Congress to investigate the activities of the "fugitive" king emeritus or "not respecting the result of the polls."

"It is clear that he does not know what an abuse of power is," replied Sánchez, who has once again used the index of 'The Economist' to underline that Spain is "a full democracy" and that if it is not, it is more for the "blockade" of the PP to the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary.

And then he has returned to defend his decisions regarding Catalonia, including the dialogue table, stressing that the Government has tried to "build coexistence" in that community and that the current situation has "nothing to do with that of 2017", although "some" "long for it".

"If there is something worse, it is the independence movement," he remarked, referring to Mas's statements in which he assumes that the independence project is "in decline" and "has been losing consistency."

That, Sánchez added, should make Junts "reflect" and make them "return to useful politics" and leave the "anti-politics" that, from their point of view, are giving so "little benefit" to the old Convergència and to society Catalan in general.
