Sánchez advocates "stability" in the Catalan Government and leaves it up to Illa if he supports ERC

PRAGUE, 7 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, referred today to the decision of the Junts militancy to leave the Catalan Government, and has advocated "stability" in the regional Executive given the current complex times, and has stated that he will always will have an outstretched hand for the reunion of Catalan society. However, he has left it up to the PSC leader, Salvador Illa, if he supports ERC to provide that stability.

Sánchez, who has appeared in Prague after the celebration of the Political Council of the European Union, has indicated that he had hardly had time to know the news due to this circumstance.

But he did want to specify that "in these complex times that the whole of Catalan and European society is going through, witnessing a war at the gates of Europe with the effects of the cost of energy, the value of stability is fundamental".

In this sense, he has insisted on the importance of the stability of the Governments in all the institutions, for which he has made it clear that he advocates for it, for the stability of the Government. "As President of the Government, whatever the circumstance, we will always have our hand out for the reunion of Catalan society."

However, when asked if Salvador Illa is going to give stability to the Catalan Executive, he has avoided answering, alleging that this question must be asked of the first secretary of the PSC. "I am not the person," he has pointed out.

However, he pointed out that what the leader of the PSC has shown is that he has always been on hand in the general interest of Catalonia to solve the problems of the economic crisis, the inflationary crisis and the energy crisis.

Nor has he revealed whether there will be a change of scenery with ERC after Junts' departure from the Catalan Government: "I don't have the answer there, Junts has just announced his departure from the Government."

But he has once again insisted on the importance of the value of stability in all institutions and has stressed that he hopes it will continue to be so in Catalonia due to all the work that lies ahead. That said, he has indicated his "unequivocal" commitment to dialogue. "The Spanish and Catalan government and socialism will be there," he stressed.
