Roglic leaves the Tour de France

CAP D'AGLE (FRANCE), July 17. (dpa/EP) -

The Slovenian rider Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) will not continue in the Tour de France, so he will not be in this Sunday's stage, from Rodez to Carcassonne, due to a fall, the team announced.

As happened last year, Roglic is forced to leave the Tour due to the consequences of a fall. Roglic crashed in the fifth stage and dislocated his shoulder, being the one who picked it up to continue the race. However, as the cyclist acknowledged on the Jumbo-Visma social media profiles, he will not continue in the French round to "heal well" his injury.

"I am proud of my contribution to the current standings and I am confident that the team will make our ambitions come true. Thank you all for your great support," added the rider.

This is a serious blow for Jumbo-Visma, which loses the best protector of its teammate Jonas Vingegaard, leader of the Tour. Now the Dane will have to continue his quest for glory in the French race without his most prominent squire.
