One of the most wanted fugitives in the US arrested in Madrid for child pornography and sexual assault

MADRID, 23 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The National Police have arrested in Madrid in collaboration with the FBI one of the most wanted fugitives in the US, a country in which he was sentenced to life imprisonment for crimes of child pornography, sexual exploitation, sexual assault and illicit earnings of more than 17 million of dollars.

This is M.J.P., a New Zealander included in the FBI's ten most wanted list, as reported by the National Police. He was dedicated to the audiovisual production of pornography, recruiting minors and young women through deception, earning more than 17 million dollars.

After a year of searching throughout Spain, with clues that located him in Barcelona, on December 21 the presence of the fugitive was detected in a central Madrid hotel, where he was staying under one of the many false identities he had used to avoid its location.

This is the first arrest in Spain of one of the criminals included in the FBI's 'Ten Most Wanted Fugitives' list. So far, beyond the borders of the United States, only 57 of these fugitives have been captured, according to the National Police.

The judicial process against M.J.P. focused in the US on facts related to the production of audiovisual productions of pornographic content between 2012 and 2019.

The fugitive recruited minors and very young women from all over the United States and Canada by posting online ads offering alleged modeling jobs that ultimately turned out to be pornographic recordings.

In order to attract new victims, he paid other women who served as "bait", in order to convince the women that the recorded material would not be published later on the network.

According to the testimonies of the victims themselves, they were sometimes held against their will at the recording locations, and were not allowed to leave until they had complied with the demands demanded by the producer owned by the fugitive, and in the worst cases, they were forced to to carry out sexual practices to which they had previously expressly refused.

Once all the information was received by specialized agents of the National Police, the investigation began thanks to which his presence could be located at first in Barcelona, however after numerous checks no results were obtained.

In parallel to the police investigation, the authorities of the North American country allocated significant resources to the case, carrying out advertising campaigns aimed at gathering any information that would facilitate the arrest of the fugitive, even offering a reward of $100,000 in exchange for any relevant clue.

For this reason, several private investigators traveled to our country, whose investigations in Barcelona were equally unsuccessful.

Finally, after a year of exhaustive searches throughout Spain, on December 21 the presence of the fugitive was detected in a central Madrid hotel, where he was staying under one of the many false identities he had used to avoid locating him.
