Barbón transfers his "love and support" to Adriana Lastra in the face of this "brave and conscious decision"

OVIEDO, 18 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the Principality of Asturias and general secretary of the Asturian Socialist Federation (FSA-PSOE), Adrián Barbón, has transferred this Monday to the former deputy general secretary of the PSOE, the Asturian Adriana Lastra, his "love and support" before the "brave and conscious decision" to resign from office.

"She does so due to the need to rest and remain calm due to her pregnancy," the socialist leader said in a Twitter thread collected by Europa Press.

As secretary general of the FSA "his federation", and "as a friend", he has publicly expressed "all his affection" and has highlighted Lastra that "He has always shown his loyalty to the Party and to socialist militancy".

With her resignation, Barbón highlights that the also deputy for Asturias in Congress "thus closes an 8-year stage as a member of the Federal Executive", five of them as Deputy Secretary General of the PSOE and three as Spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in Congress of the Deputies. The regional leader has highlighted that Lastra has been the first woman to be spokesperson for the PSOE in Congress. In all of her tasks, she has assured, she "has been up to the task."

The president of Asturias has highlighted how "no other socialist militant in Asturias" has held such important organic responsibilities in the PSOE, assuming the functions of number 2 of the Party. "Only José Barreiro, in a very different period, that of exile, assumed the General Vice-Secretariat," he added.

The FSA-PSOE, he concluded, feels "very proud" of Lastra's work, political capacity, loyalty and "firm convictions", "always defending the role of socialist militancy in our Party".
