Alfonso Guerra warns Sánchez that legislating "with a name and surname" is a form of corruption and corrupts politics

He says that it is "quite likely" that the independentistas hold a referendum, although the government "will sweeten it"

MADRID, 13 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Former Vice President of the Government Alfonso Guerra has warned the Government on Tuesday that legislating "with name and surname" --in relation to sedition and embezzlement- "corrupts politics" and is a form of "corruption" because the laws are amortized , thus referring to the ERC commitment to bring the request to hold a referendum to the dialogue table with the central government.

In an interview on Onda Cero, collected by Europa Press, Alfonso Guerra expressed his "disappointment and concern" because "everything is paid off in half an hour here," he insisted. "Neither the repeal of sedition nor embezzlement have yet been approved and the independentistas already have another issue, the referendum, which is already approved," he criticized.

Alfonso Guerra maintains that it is "quite probable" that the independentistas hold a referendum, but that the Executive "is going to sweeten it." "They will say a referendum about the agreements that have been made between the Government of Spain and the independence leaders," Guerra has predicted.

Thus, he has emphasized that "it is not strange" to think that they will carry out an operation like the one in 2017 again and has warned that "if they use the CDRs to tell people not to go out and that they make the decision to proclaim an independent republic of Catalonia and there are no public disorders, what can they be accused of?" In this case, he has assured that they will not be able to accuse them of sedition or public disorder.

In this sense, Guerra has rejected the justification offered by the Executive that goes through the pacification of the Catalan conflict because "if the intention is that" it is a "manifest error" since, in his words, the independentistas are insatiable.

In this key, he has asserted that he is "substantially in agreement" with the manifesto against the reform of the Criminal Code promoted by the Association for the Defense of Transition Values, although he has explained that he has not signed it because "it would become the manifesto of Alfonso Guerra". "I would not like it to lose the category of a manifesto of many intellectuals, political jurists to become the manifesto of Alfonso Guerra, for sure that would happen, but I agree and I am not hiding because I say so," he argued.

Asked about whether he perceives an authoritarian drift in Pedro Sánchez, the former socialist leader has indicated that he has always supported the positions of the party's general secretary when he said that the events of 2017 in Catalonia were rebellion or when he assured that he could not sleep with Pablo Iglesias in government. "What happens is that, of course, I maintain my coherence and if others change it, that is not my problem", he has added.

Lastly, Guerra has assured that within the PSOE there are many voices dissatisfied with this operation, but "it is a very disciplined organization and here it is difficult for people to distance themselves from official positions." "If I have an opinion about something and then the PP agrees, do I have to change my opinion? That is what is played for people to touch their clothes before saying what they are thinking, but there are many people who think", concluded the former vice-president.
