Albares, positive for COVID-19 after participating in NATO and OSCE meetings

MADRID, 1 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has tested positive for COVID-19 this Thursday after having participated in the last two days in two ministerial meetings of NATO and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

It was Albares himself who broke the news on his Twitter. "I have tested positive for COVID-19. I feel fine, with mild symptoms," he explained, while he clarified that he continues "working, taking extreme precautions."

The minister returned to Madrid this Wednesday night after having participated in the first session of the OSCE ministerial council - an organization made up of 57 countries - in the Polish city of Lodz, according to diplomatic sources to Europa Press.

Previously, he participated in Bucharest on Tuesday and Wednesday in the NATO ministerial meeting, in which his counterparts from the 30 member states participated. Here, Albares held two bilateral meetings with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dimitro Kuleba.

Likewise, before traveling to Poland, he had the opportunity to visit the Spanish troops stationed at the Romanian Fetesti air base as part of the Atlantic Alliance mission to guarantee the security of the eastern flank.
