Zelensky conditions peace on the total defeat of Russia on the battlefield

MADRID, 3 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has stressed this Monday that peace is only possible if they manage to defeat Russia on the battlefield and has once again spread the idea that they are the retaining wall of the rest of Europe.

"We want peace, but how can we achieve it with Russia? Only by winning on the battlefield in our country, on our land. Otherwise, after Ukraine, Europe will come," Zelensky said, citing the small village as an example. from Yahidne, in the Chernihiv region.

"Here you can see the result," said the Ukrainian president, who attended Yahidne on Monday in memory of the first anniversary of his release after the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began on February 24, 2022.

"It is very important that our partners see everything for themselves, that they are here with us. It is very important to see what happened in order to understand and help Ukraine," said Zelensky, who thanked local residents for resisting until the arrival of Ukrainian troops.

Zelenski has valued the courage of these people, the vast majority of whom at some point during the Russian presence were tortured and forcibly confined in the basement of the town school. A torment, he has said, that he waits for which the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, can go through.

"I can only wish that the president of Russia spends the rest of his life in a basement, with a bucket instead of a toilet," he said. Between March 3 and 30, 2022, just after the invasion began, 367 people were detained in the basement of the Yahidne school, including fifty minors.

During that captivity, eleven people died, while another ten were executed by Russian soldiers. In June 2022, the Ukrainian authorities accused eight soldiers of the deaths of these people, recalls Ukrinform.
