Trump criticizes the hostage exchange agreement for not having Americans among the first freed

MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Former President Donald Trump has criticized the prisoner exchange agreement for not being American citizens among the first to be released since this Friday, which is now almost fifty.

"Has anyone noticed that Hamas has returned people from other countries but, so far, has not returned any American hostages?" the magnate asked on his platform, 'Truth Social'.

For Trump, this is synonymous with President Joe Biden's lack of leadership, as well as a "lack of respect" for the United States. "This is a very sad and dark period of America!" he emphasized.

On October 7, Hamas took some 240 people hostage, although fifty of them have already been released since Friday, as part of the agreement reached between Hamas and Israel that, in return, has also freed almost one hundred Palestinian prisoners, including women and children.

The current agreement provides for a truce that will last at least until Monday, when Hamas would release 50 people. Israel, for its part, agrees to release three Palestinian prisoners for each hostage. The agreement itself provides for extending the truce for another day in exchange for ten more hostages from the Islamist group.
