The trial against Trump for alleged bribery of the former porn actress will begin on April 15

MADRID, 25 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Judge Juan Merchan announced this Monday that the trial against former President of the United States Donald Trump for an alleged case of bribery against former adult film actress Stephanie Clifford, known as 'Stormy Daniels', will begin on April 15 with jury selection.

The judge, who has rejected an appeal by Trump to dismiss the accusation entirely or delay the trial, has given the former president's lawyers the opportunity to file another appeal to delay the hearing based on pre-trial publicity concerns.

Upon leaving the court, the magnate has denounced that the trial for the alleged secret payments to Clifford is being accelerated so that it can be held before the presidential elections next November, for which he has described it as a case of "interference election," CNN reports.

Former President Trump was charged with more than thirty charges for the possible secret payment of 130,000 dollars - more than 120,000 euros - to Clifford to keep silent about an alleged extramarital relationship that both would have had in the past and that the mangante has always denied.

The payments themselves do not represent illegality, but the way in which Trump would have made them does, which would have required the mediation of his then lawyer Michale Cohen to hide the disbursements through the business conglomerate led by the former US president.
