The Palestinian Red Crescent denounces the "continued" shelling by Israel near the Al Quds hospital

Alert that the hospital could be left without electricity this Wednesday after suspending a large part of its operations

The Palestinian Red Crescent denounced this Wednesday the "continued Israeli bombings" in the vicinity of the Al Quds hospital in Gaza City, which has been the target of numerous attacks during the last week.

The organization has indicated that, as a result of these bombings, "all roads to the hospital are closed", so medical teams and personnel "cannot leave the hospital to care for the wounded."

"Israeli bombing has continued since last night near the hospital," the Palestinian Red Crescent stressed in a message broadcast through the social network x, formerly known as Twitter.

Thus, he has called for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and has recalled that some 500 patients and more than 14,000 internally displaced people, mainly women and children, are in the hospital.

On the other hand, it has warned that a large part of its operations have been suspended with the aim of "rationing fuel" and "guaranteeing minimum service for the next few days" due to fear that the medical center will be left without electricity within the next few days. throughout the day.

"The situation has forced the hospital's main generator to be turned off, so there is only a small one working. The surgical pavilion is closed, in addition to the oxygen generating plant," as stated in a statement.

Likewise, the center has proceeded to close its radiodiagnosis plant as it adopts an energy rationing plan that provides for a supply of only two hours a day after 5:00 p.m. (local time). In this way, they hope to be able to "meet the basic needs of people who are displaced" and seek refuge in the hospital so that they can "cook and charge their cell phones."

"The Palestinian Red Crescent has run out of options. For the past two weeks, it has warned that time and fuel are running out. The Israeli occupation forces refuse to allow gasoline into the Gaza Strip. "One week, we were able to secure some of the oil from gas stations in the Gaza Strip, but now it has become impossible to obtain more fuel, especially in the north," the organization lamented.

In this sense, he has pointed out that he hopes that this does not lead to the "total closure of the hospital for the next few days as it runs out of reserves" and has estimated that some 14,000 people have had to move internally and are looking for shelter in the hospital.
