The Ibex reaches 11,100 points at the opening after rising 0.2%

The Ibex 35 started this Wednesday's session with a rise of 0.23%, which has led it to conquer the psychological level of 11,100 points and touch the maximum of 2017, standing at 11,104.3 integers, in one day marked by the publication of business results, such as those of Iberdrola or Dominion.

However, the Madrid selective lost 11,100 points around 9:20 a.m., after remaining flat (-0.01%) and standing at 11,077.7 points.

Before the market opened, it was known that Iberdrola obtained a net profit of 2,760 million euros in the first quarter of the year, which represents an increase of 85.8% compared to the 1,485 million euros in the same period of 2023. driven by the million-dollar capital gains recorded with the sale of assets in Mexico.

For its part, Dominion obtained a net profit of 7.3 million euros in the first quarter, a figure 40% lower than the profits of 12.1 million euros in the same period of 2023.

Also in the business field, Endesa is holding its ordinary general meeting of shareholders, in which it will propose increasing its number of directors to 14, from the current 12, with the appointment of three new members of the governing body and the departure of Alicia Koplowitz.

On the other hand, Prosegur Cash will vote at its general meeting of shareholders, scheduled for this Wednesday on first call, the distribution of a dividend charged to voluntary reserves of 0.0404 gross euros per share, which raises the total amount to a maximum of almost 60 million euros, according to the company, which will also include Helena Revoredo's daughter, Bárbara Gut Revoredo, on its board.

Under the macroeconomic umbrella, this Wednesday the Ifo index of business confidence in Germany, business confidence in Italy or the CBI index of industrial trends in the United Kingdom will be announced.

At the start of the trading day, in Spain, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported that the number of mortgages established on homes rose by 3.8% last February compared to the same month in 2023, totaling 37,232 loans, with a more moderate average interest rate than the previous month, but still above 3%.

In the early stages of this session, the biggest increases within the Ibex 35 were recorded by Repsol (1.36%), ArcelorMittal (1.19%), Acerinox (0.91%), Indra (0.88%) and Grifols (0.83%), while the 'red lanterns' were Cellnex (-0.85%) and Acciona Energía (-0.57%).

The main European stock markets opened this Wednesday with mixed trends. Specifically, London, Milan and Frankfurt rose 0.3%, 0.18% and 0.15%, respectively, while Paris fell 0.17%.

At the opening of the stock market, the price of a barrel of Brent quality oil, a reference for the Old Continent, rose 0.1%, to 88.51 dollars, while that of Texas stood at 83.43 dollars , 0.08% more.

In the foreign exchange market, the price of the euro against the dollar advanced to 1.0688 'greenbacks', while in the debt market the interest required on the 10-year Spanish bond climbed to 3.296%.
