Moscow court sends suspects to pretrial detention pending trial

MADRID, 25 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

A Russian court has formally charged this Sunday with terrorism the four main suspects of the attack on Friday against the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow that left 137 dead according to the provisional toll provided by the authorities.

The authorities presented the suspects in court this Sunday, who have been sent to preventive detention. The defendants have been identified as Dalerjon Barotovich Mirzoev, Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni - who have already admitted their guilt - and Muhammadsobir Fayzov.

The Moscow court has held its hearings behind closed doors to maintain the secrecy of the investigation and has decided to choose preventive measures in the form of detention until May 22 while awaiting trial. The four defendants, who have used Tajik language translation services, showed signs of injuries, especially bruises on their faces.

The last of them to testify, Fayzov, has been transferred to the room on a medical stretcher, accompanied by emergency services, as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.

On Friday some men broke into the concert hall in the Russian capital and shot at those present. Later, they opened fire on the building. The Russian Government has reported the arrest of eleven people, including the four directly involved in the attack, which has been claimed by Islamic State.

The attack on Crocus City Hall is the worst terrorist attack in the contemporary history of the Russian capital, surpassing the crisis of the kidnapping, by Chechen separatists, of the Dubrovka theater in 2002, an attack that left 132 hostages. died after an unmitigated intervention by the Russian security forces.
