The European Parliament investigates the Cs MEP José Ramón Bauzá for labor harassment of a parliamentary adviser

BRUSSELS, 12 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) -

The European Parliament is investigating the MEP for Citizens José Ramón Bauzá after being denounced for workplace harassment by one of his parliamentary advisers, a case that is already in the hands of the Advisory Committee in charge of studying complaints about psychological and sexual harassment and preventing these episodes in the European institution.

The process began with the complaint by a parliamentary adviser last summer against the former president of the Balearic Islands, as El Confidencial announced on Wednesday and parliamentary sources confirmed to Europa Press.

For their part, sources from the 'orange' formation have indicated that this is a confidential process within the European Parliament, which is why they have avoided issuing any assessment pending the conclusions of the European Parliament.

Now the case is in the hands of the body, made up of five members belonging to different parliamentary groups, with a rotating presidency, which meets once a month and examines the circumstances of the alleged infringement and can hear the deputy who is the subject of a complaint. The committee works confidentially and, once the investigation is complete, sends its opinion and possible sanctions to the President of the European Parliament.

Precisely last January, the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, suspended employment and salary for 30 days to the PSOE MEP Mónica Silvana González for a case of "psychological harassment" against three parliamentary assistants, in the largest sanction of this type in the history of the institution.

Then the socialist parliamentarian denied the accusations and said that she had been "unfairly sanctioned administratively" and that, in addition to appealing the measure through the internal procedure provided, she would also study the possibility of going to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
