Russia launches large-scale military maneuver in the Arctic

MADRID, 11 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Russia has started a large-scale military maneuver in the Arctic, with the aim of guaranteeing the security of Moscow's activities in the area, as well as maritime communications.

The military exercises have the participation of 1,800 soldiers, 85 military equipment, 40 planes and 15 boats, as reported by the Interfax news agency.

"In various stages of the exercise, the interaction with the naval forces of the fleet will be resolved, as well as with the aircraft of the long-range aviation command of the Russian Aerospace Forces," reads a statement collected by the aforementioned agency.

The maneuvers are expected to last several days, in which the coordination between the different Russian forces is tested, in a place considered important by Russia because it is the export step for raw materials from the north of the country.
