RELEASE: Philips joins forces with AWS to bring its HealthSuite Imaging PACS solution to the cloud

Market-leading Philips PACS is now available on AWS to deliver availability, reliability and security, as well as AI-powered workflow enhancements

· Expanded collaboration with AWS supports development and deployment of generative AI applications that further support efficient clinical workflows and improve diagnostics

Madrid, April 18, 2023 – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in healthcare technology, has announced the availability of Philips HealthSuite Imaging on Amazon Web Services (AWS). In addition, Philips and AWS will build their alliance advancing AI in healthcare by applying foundational models using Amazon Bedrock to accelerate the development of cloud-based generative artificial intelligence applications that will provide clinical decision support, facilitate diagnostics more accurate and automate administrative tasks.

The availability of Philips HealthSuite Imaging on AWS adds to Philips' extensive enterprise computing capabilities, enabling improved image access speed, reliability, and data orchestration for radiologists and physicians across the entire workflow imaging, from diagnosis to therapy selection, treatment and follow-up. Clinicians will be able to access the latest news from anywhere, and healthcare organizations will be able to reduce costs previously invested in local hardware or data centers to host their imaging management platform.

Philips can help clinicians manage increasing workloads in a staff shortage environment and speed up diagnosis and treatment times, improving patient outcomes. Philips HealthSuite Imaging will use Amazon HealthLake Imaging to extend its reach, deliver a fast first image, enable easy reuse of images for machine learning and research, and reduce medical imaging costs.

The company will also use Amazon Bedrock as part of its strategy to develop generative AI applications to advance PACS image processing capabilities and simplify clinical workflows and speech recognition. Amazon Bedrock will enable Philips to develop applications based on machine learning and reduce model development costs, compared to building foundational models from scratch or running multiple model development efforts for specific tasks.

"With healthcare systems under increasing pressure, clinicians have shifted their focus away from technical specifications to more efficient workflows that lead to accurate diagnoses, and that's what we're delivering here," Shez said. Partovi, Director of Innovation and Strategy and Business Leader of Enterprise Computing at Philips. "By moving from on-premises to the cloud, we can leverage the security, reliability, and unmatched breadth and depth of AWS to support healthcare organizations in their mission to deliver high-quality care while easing the burden on their staff."

"Healthcare organizations are looking for ways to reduce costs, improve the interoperability of healthcare data, and enable clinicians to make data-driven decisions to improve access to quality, patient-centered care," said Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President of AWS databases, analytics, and machine learning. "By democratizing access to generative AI and applying foundational models to help support clinical decision making, increase diagnostic accuracy, and automate administrative tasks, AWS will continue to support Philips as they discover new ways to to simplify the workflow of radiologists and reduce the cognitive load and burnout of physicians."

Philips and AWS offer migration expertise and planning services, TCO analysis, and cybersecurity technical expertise to help customers migrate from on-premises to cloud-based solutions.
