In an electoral debate, the PNV has demanded "more and better self-government" and EH Bildu "more sovereignty, while the PSE-EE has rejected the objective of independence that "unites" these two political forces and has defended a new Statute, al Like Elkarrekin, Podemos and Sumar. These demonstrations have taken place within the framework of the electoral debate that RTVE has held between the main candidates and representatives for the Basque elections.

The head of the PNV list for Álava, Joseba Díez Antxustegi, participated there; the representative of EH Bildu por Gipuzkoa, Nerea Kortajarena Ibañez; the leader of PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza; the head of the list of Elkarrekin Podemos por Álava, Juantxo López de Uralde; the PP candidate, Javier de Andrés; the representative of Vox por Álava, Amaia Martínez; and the candidate of the Sumar Movement for the Presidency, Alba García.

In the bloc referring to self-government, the head of the PNV list for Álava has stated that his party has a "model based on the recognition of the singularity of self-government, on the recognition of Basque plurality and that establishes bilateral relations with the State." . In his opinion, there is a challenge that is to "reach a new statutory pact on the basis of expanding consensus" to "have more and better self-government."

For her part, the head of the EH Bildu list for Gipuzkoa, Nerea Kortajarena, has assured that the current moment requires "more sovereignty, more decision-making capacity" and more tools "to be able to decide the future."

The candidate for Lehendakari of the PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza, has stated that, "of course", it is necessary to "reform the Statute" because, along with that of Galicia, it is the only one that has not been renewed, but he has assured that, if it is not has renewed, it has been "the fault" of the PNV and EH Bildu, which always "prioritize sovereignty, independence and the right to self-determination, to consolidate rights, to protect them in a new statute of autonomy."

Andueza has pointed out that this new Statute has to open "a new future for Euskadi", consolidating the coexistence of a Basque Country "in peace and freedom", in which "plurality and those who are different are respected." In his opinion, "independence can never be a solution" and will always "be a problem" because Euskadi is "a plural, diverse territory" and "major agreements will be necessary to continue progressing", one of them being the renewal of the Statute of Gernika.

"Of course, the PSE-EE is very clear that it will always be in the key to plurality, stability and good government to move this country forward. Never in any type of adventure that leads us to failure and of course to the ruin of this country," he warned.

The PP candidate Javier de Andrés has criticized the fact that self-government has been used "to divide and fractionate the Basque Country in relation to the rest of Spain" in a national construction project "that consists of raising walls."

In his opinion, the Concert and all self-government should be used to "grow and improve", something that has not happened because Euskadi has lost "economic, social and demographic weight."

For his part, the head of the Elkarrekin Podemos list for Álava, Juantxo López de Uralde, has accused the PNV of using self-government "as an excuse to avoid ideological debates."
