The Croatian midfielder Luka Modric valued as "very important" and "great" to get back on the podium of the World Cup with the bronze won against Morocco this Saturday, while he left as sure his continuity with Croatia "at least" until the 'Final Four' of the League of Nations next summer.
"You could see how we celebrated on the field, it means a lot. Winning two medals in two World Cups is something very important, very big for Croatia," he said in statements to Gol Mundial, collected by Europa Press, after the victory in the fight for the Third place.
Modric did not hide that the objective was to achieve one more step than in Russia 2018, when they were runners-up, but he highlighted the regularity and international recognition achieved by Croatia. "We traveled home as winners, it's important, although we wanted to be in the final," he said, before assessing whether it was his last World Cup.
"Yes, it could be, but I can't say anything. I'm very happy with my career in Croatia. I wanted to win the cup, it was my dream, but I'm also very happy. Croatia has a future and we have to continue. In the future we'll see what happens, at least I want to continue until the League of Nations and then we'll see", he finished.
The UEFA national team tournament will be decided in the semifinals, 14 and 15, and final, 18, in June 2023. On January 25 will be the draw for the crosses between Croatia, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.
