Maarten Wetselaar (Cepsa), recognized in Davos by Forbes as CEO with the best vision of the future

The CEO of Cepsa, Maarten Wetselaar, has been recognized with the 'Best Vision of the Future 2024' award in Davos presented by 'Forbes' magazine, in a gala that brought together prominent leaders attending the World Economic Forum.

The award recognizes the success achieved by Wetselaar in accelerating Cepsa's transformation to turn it into a leading company in the energy transition and its vision to lead sectors, such as green hydrogen or second generation biofuels, that use the circular economy to convert waste into new renewable fuels.

This event, held last night in Davos within the framework of the World Economic Forum being held these days in the Swiss town, was attended by the highest representatives of Cepsa's shareholders: H.E. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, President and CEO of Mubadala Investment Company Group, and Harvey M. Schwartz, CEO of Carlyle.

The two have assured that Cepsa has become for both entities a reference asset in their respective portfolios at a global level, within their commitment to the sustainability of the planet.

The Cepsa manager has assured that this award confirms its strategy towards a more sustainable future. "We have the opportunity to become an agent of change and to position Spain as a leader of the ecological transition and a renewable engine to reinforce the energy independence of the continent," he stated.

This award, which celebrates its first edition this year, has been created with the aim of recognizing the most outstanding business strategies in this decade and the vision of the future of the leaders who promote transformative and pioneering change in their sectors of activity.

According to the editor of 'Forbes', Andrés Rodríguez, in charge of presenting the award, since joining Cepsa, Maarten Wetselaar has changed the course of the company, materializing "a radical green turn" through his 'Positive Motion' strategy, which has allowed it to be incorporated into the exclusive 'first movers' segment.
