Iglesias attributes the fact that Sumar does not accept primaries to the internal debate on whether it is convenient for them to go to elections with Podemos

BARCELONA, 3 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former leader of Podemos and former second vice president, Pablo Iglesias, considers that Sumar, the new formation led by Yolanda Díaz, does not accept primaries, as requested by the leader of Podemos, Ione Belarra, because they have an internal debate about whether it is convenient for them to go to the elections with the 'purple' party.

"The feeling I have is that within Sumar there is a debate about whether they want to go to the elections with Podemos or not. If they were clear about what they want, what is the price of Yolanda Díaz going out with Ione saying that there will be primaries open to the public? ?", has asked.

In this context, Iglesias has defended an alliance of Podemos with the Sumar platform of the second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, by assuring that "unity is more necessary than ever."

"Today is the day that we must claim that unity is more necessary than ever. It is very important that Podemos and Sumar reach an agreement for the elections," he stressed in an interview in Rac1 collected by Europa Press the day after that Díaz launched his candidacy for the presidency of the Government.

According to Iglesias, it is necessary to be intelligent in diagnosing the situation, arguing that "this goes beyond personal feelings and little pullitas because it is about the right and the extreme right ruling in Spain" or that this does not happen, and thus there is a left and progressive alternative.

In his opinion, if Sumar decides not to ally with Podemos it will be "an electoral and political tragedy" and he has called on Yolanda Díaz's team to explain if the key to their strategy is to go separately because they consider that it remains for them.
