Guardiola assures that he would "get out of the way" rather than "swallow" a directive from Genoa to agree with Vox

MÉRIDA, June 21 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the PP of Extremadura, María Guardiola, has assured this Wednesday that she would prefer to "get out of the way" rather than "swallow" with a directive from the Genoa leadership to allow Vox to enter the regional Executive.

In an interview on the Onda Cero program 'Mas de uno', collected by Europa Press, Guardiola advocated that "in Madrid they dedicate themselves to thinking about what happens in Madrid and that the Extremaduran candidate dedicate themselves to thinking about what that interests in this land".

For the regional 'popular' president, the "most sensible" option to avoid an electoral repetition in Extremadura is for "Vox to back down" and support her investiture without being part of the regional government, as it has been maintaining. She has explained on numerous occasions that there is no room in her government for a party that denies violence against women, dehumanizes immigrants and threatens the rights of LGTBI people.

Guardiola has insisted that his position that Vox not enter the government has not changed since before the elections and will not change after the May 28 elections. "We have not deceived anyone, we have said that we were not going to govern with Vox, that we want to govern alone," he stressed.

In this regard, she has stressed that for her it is "impossible" to think of sitting in a Governing Council "to make ideology", and that, for this reason, her party offered Vox the presidency of the Extremadura Parliament, a vice presidency and an autonomous senator, "but it doesn't seem enough to them".

In addition, he has pointed out changes in Vox's criteria when even demanding to occupy ministries, because "one day they asked for Agriculture and another for Culture", but he has stressed that he "does not" want Extremadura "to have to resign the best Minister of Agriculture, that it was going to be Mercedes Morán", has advanced.

"I don't see myself capable of having people on the Governing Council who are so far removed ideologically from what I think," Guardiola stressed.

Questioned by this very different position from those of his party colleagues who in other regions such as the Valencian Community have reached agreements to govern and by the figure of the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijoó in this matter, Guardiola has stressed that since the national leadership of the party there is "absolute respect for the pacts and agreements of each territory".

The best thing for Extremadura and its citizens, he commented, is that there be "a stable and serious government", but not with people who want to make ideology from the Presidency of the Junta, "to make ideology we ceded Parliament to it", he affirmed.
