Feijóo reaffirms that Puigdemont is "more sincere" than Sánchez and tells the EPP that he is not president for not giving in

BRUSELAS, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, told his colleagues of the European People's Party (EPP) this Thursday that he is not president of the Government for not accepting the "conditions" demanded by the former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, who escaped from Justice. That said, it has been reaffirmed in his words that the former Catalan president is "clearer", "transparent" and "sincere" than the acting head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, who "intends to deceive the Spanish people."

This is how he spoke at a press conference in Brussels after attending the EPP meeting, prior to the European Council, and holding several bilateral meetings, among others with the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, with whom he spoke about the amnesty. because "that affects the rule of law in Spain."

Feijóo has indicated that he has informed the members of the EPP that Sánchez, for three weeks, has been "trying to seek sufficient support to, after losing, obtain the presidency of the Government" through agreements with "the extreme left" and " the separatists."

"At this moment, Puigdemont is the one who is going to decide whether Sánchez is going to be president of the Government or not," he stressed, adding that he has informed his EPP colleagues that he has "resigned" to be president of the Government because he does not can "accept the conditions" of the former Catalan president and his party, Junts. "I continue to reaffirm that not everything goes in politics," he stated.

In this sense, he has stressed that the amnesty is "illegal" from a legal point of view, a "democratic aberration" and "indecency from a moral point of view", as well as "a great fraud" to the voters.

When asked about the controversy that his words have created, he assured that he "respects" the former Catalan president because "everyone knows what he is asking for" compared to others who "lie a lot," Feijóo has reaffirmed his words and stressed that he said something with which "the majority of Spaniards" agree.

"I have said that Mr. Puigdemont and the independence movement are clearer, more transparent and more sincere than Mr. Sánchez, and I repeat it. They have always said the same thing," he added, adding that the acting head of the Executive "hides" to the citizens what is being agreed upon and "intends to deceive them."
