BRUSSELS, 2 Ene. (EUROPE PRESS) -

The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, conveyed this Monday to the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, the "unconditional" support of the EU for the "heroic struggle" being waged by the Ukrainian people, "a struggle for freedom and against the brutal aggression" launched by Russia in February.

In this "first call of the new year", as Von der Leyen has described it, the head of the Community Executive has stressed that the EU will support kyiv "for as long as necessary", in line with the messages transferred in recent months .

"We are going to support you during the winter with generators, light bulbs, shelters and school buses", has reviewed Von der Leyen, who has also reported macro-financial aid of 18,000 million euros that the EU will disburse in monthly installments.

The president of the European Commission also hopes to meet again "soon" with Zelenski in kyiv. The third and so far last visit of the German conservative took place in mid-September, while Zelensky has yet to accept an invitation to travel to Brussels.
