UK estimates Russia has dedicated 97 percent of its Armed Forces to Ukraine

MADRID, 15 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The UK government estimates that Russia has allocated "97 percent" of the capacity of its Armed Forces to the offensive launched almost a year ago on Ukraine, where Russian troops had reached "attrition levels" practically comparable to those of the first World War.

All this, according to the British Defense Minister, Ben Wallace, to achieve progress that is measured "in meters rather than kilometers" and in a context in which Ukraine demands more sophisticated and useful equipment from its international partners, including the United Kingdom.

"If 97 percent of the Russian Army is now committed to the Ukraine, with a very, very high level of attrition, combat capability reduced to 40 percent, and almost two-thirds of its tanks destroyed or broken, all this has an impact. directly on the security of Europe," Wallace told the BBC.

Helping Ukraine "defeat" Russia, he added, also increases Britain's security. In this sense, he has ruled out that increasing collaboration with the Ukrainian forces causes deficiencies in the British military capacity itself.

British Intelligence has also pointed out in its latest report a "weakness" on the part of the Russian arms industry, which would not be able to respond to the high demand of the last year. Added to this are "strategic and operational errors" on the battlefield.

The London experts also detect cracks in the Russian political elite and give as an example a public reproach launched on Sunday by Putin to the deputy prime minister, Denis Manturov, head of the defense industry and accused of "wasting time".

"Production is below the demands of the Russian Defense Ministry to maintain the campaign in Ukraine and restore long-term needs," UK Intelligence has said.
