The United Kingdom will allow pubs and bars to open two more hours during the coronation of Carlos III

MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government of the United Kingdom will allow pubs, discos and bars in the country to open two more hours during the weekend of the coronation of King Carlos III as a measure to celebrate such a "momentous event" in a special way.

Hospitality establishments in England and Wales will be able to continue serving their customers from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. during the weekend of Friday 5 to Sunday 7 May so that the British can "enjoy one or two more pints", according to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior collected by 'Evening Standard'.

The Minister of the Interior, Suella Braverman, has taken the measure after 77 percent of the participants in a popular consultation supported the extension of hotel hours during the coronation of King Carlos III.

"The coronation of His Majesty the King will be a momentous event deserving of a special celebration. That is why I am extending the licensing hours during this historic coronation weekend," Braverman announced.

"Throughout the country, people can enjoy an extra pint or two in the evening, while families and friends can come together to wish His Majesty the King a long and happy reign."

The hospitality industry has greeted the announcement with enthusiasm, claiming that "in the midst of a difficult period", bars will celebrate "this happy occasion".

"The announcement of the extension of the opening hours will help us all to celebrate this important event," said the director of the British Association of Beers and Pubs, Emma McClarkin, to the aforementioned newspaper.
