The Transnistrian authorities ask the UN to investigate the frustrated attack against their president

MADRID, 10 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the Moldovan separatist region of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselski, has ordered the details of his frustrated attack to be communicated to various international organizations in order to provide him with security.

The authorities of the region have indicated this Thursday that they will ask the members of the UN Security Council and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE, to "investigate this situation and guarantee their security", according to the Moldovan News Maker portal.

The Moldovan Prime Minister, Dorin Recean, has indicated that the Government does not have "confirmations" related to the alleged "terrorist attack", according to 'Ziarul National'.

"The Republic of Moldova is in a stable situation, in a situation of peace and stability in the region (...) The Government is concerned with guaranteeing peace and facing the challenges that exist," Recean stated.

Authorities in the breakaway Moldovan region of Transnistria have claimed they have managed to thwart an attack on their president at the hands of allegedly members linked to Ukrainian intelligence. In addition, the presumed suspects have been arrested and have reportedly confessed their plans. "Criminal cases have been opened against all of them," sources from the Ministry of State Security have indicated.

The regional Prosecutor's Office has also stated that the plan included the use of a car bomb and that the attack was to be carried out in the center of Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria, where both hoped to cause "numerous victims".

For its part, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU, for its acronym in Ukrainian) has reacted to the accusations, assuring that "any statement" from the "false People's Republic of Transnistria" about the participation of the SBU in the preparation of the attack "must be considered exclusively a Kremlin-orchestrated provocation."
