The Peruvian prosecutor's office is asking for 36 months of remand in custody against Pedro Castillo

MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Peruvian Prosecutor's Office has requested this Tuesday 36 months of preventive detention against former President Pedro Castillo and two of his ministers for allegedly leading a criminal organization.

Prosecutor Uriel Teran has submitted the request to the Supreme Court, noting that the initiative includes Juan Silva, former Minister of Transportation; and Geiner Alvarado, former head of Housing.

The Public Ministry has attributed to the former president his leadership in a criminal organization destined to commit various acts of corruption, including crimes of criminal organization, collusion and influence peddling.

The Peruvian judiciary formalized an investigation last week against Castillo, Silva and Alvarado in order to learn more details about an alleged criminal network led by Castillo that sought to favor the Puente Tarata III consortium and other companies in public bidding processes.

Castillo is currently serving 18 months in preventive detention, within the framework of the investigations for the alleged crime of rebellion, after he was arrested following the announcement made on December 7 of the dissolution of Congress and the establishment of an emergency government. . For his part, Silva has been a fugitive from justice since last year.
