The Hungarian Teachers Union announces a new demonstration to demand changes in Orbán's education policy

MADRID, 27 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Hungarian Teachers Union (PSZ) has announced a new strike and a new demonstration on December 8 and 9, respectively, after hundreds of students, teachers and union leaders have taken to the streets this weekend to demand changes in the education sector to the Hungarian Government.

The president of the PSZ, Zsuzsa Szabó, and Erzsébet Nagy, a member of the Democratic Union of Teachers (PDSZ), delivered a petition on Saturday afternoon with nine points to the Minister of the Interior, Sándor Pintér, with demands for the educational sector, according ha informado el diario Magyar Nemzet.

After that, the demonstrators, among whom were representatives of the NoÁr movement, critical of the government, and the human rights organization Amnesty International, left for Kossuth Square, in front of which is the Hungarian Parliament.

One of the main demands of the student procession, led by drummers, is an increase in teachers' salaries, as well as the renewal of the curriculum, which they claim is outdated, or the right of educators to strike.

On October 24, tens of thousands of Hungarians also took to the streets of the capital, Budapest, to demonstrate against the educational policy of the government of right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
