The Baltic countries call on Germany in unison to immediately send Leopard tanks to Ukraine

MADRID, 21 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have asked the German government on their social networks this Saturday to send "immediately" Leopard tanks to Ukraine to assist the Ukrainian Army against the Russian invasion due to the suspicion exhibited by Berlin.

"We, the foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, call on Germany to immediately send Leopard tanks to Ukraine," Urmas Reinsalu, Edgars Rinkevics and Gabrielius Landsbergis have stated in their respective accounts.

The decision, they argue, "is necessary to stop Russian aggression, help Ukraine and quickly restore peace in Europe."

The foreign ministers describe Germany as "the main European power" and point out that, as such, "it has a special responsibility in this regard".

After the meeting of the 40 allied countries of the Contact Group for Ukraine at the German military base in Ramstein, the German government has not yet unblocked the supply of battle tanks in Ukraine.

The United States and Ukraine have asked to go one step further to deploy the Leopard tanks that the Ukrainians are demanding.
