MADRID, 19 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital, kyiv, on Saturday for his first meeting with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky since his arrival at Downing Street on October 25.

In a Telegram post, Zelensky shared a video of the prime minister's arrival. "Since the first days of the war, Ukraine and the United Kingdom have been the strongest allies," wrote the president, since the beginning of the war a close ally of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

"During today's meeting, we discussed the most important issues for both our countries and global security. Together we are stronger and we will achieve the desired results," he added.

The Prime Minister's office has confirmed Sunak's visit to Sky News. "The prime minister is in Ukraine today for his first visit to kyiv to meet President Zelensky and confirm the UK's continued support," a spokesman said.
