Putin asks the intelligence services to strengthen control on the border with Ukraine

MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Russian President Vladimir Putin urged the Federal Security Service (FSB) on Tuesday to strengthen control and security on the border with Ukraine as the invasion of the neighboring country progresses.

"The Russian-Ukrainian section of the state border must be under special control of the FSB Border Guard," Putin clarified during a meeting with senior Russian intelligence officials, according to information from the TASS news agency.

In this sense, it has urged maintaining the highest level of surveillance and "constantly supervising facilities and infrastructure of vital importance, especially those that are industrial and energy."

Thus, he has asked to take measures to deal with "acts of sabotage" in the border area and thus be able to "frustrate the actions of these groups" before they carry out their activities.

"In general, it is necessary to reinforce the Counterintelligence line in the area because the special services of the Western countries have always worked actively against Russia and now they have mobilized more resources against us. We need to respond adequately to this," he said.
